The 7th Annual ‘Chowder Day’ in Bodega Bay is Saturday February 6th, 2010 11am to 3pm. The Sonoma Coast Visitors Center will again host, ‘Chowder Day’. Last year hundreds of people came to taste and vote for their favorite clam chowders and receive discount coupons to local businesses. To participate, come to the Visitors Center at 850 Highway One, located next to the Tides 76 gas station, between 11am to 3pm to pick up your pass/map to the Bodega Bay restaurants serving the clam chowder and other tasty samplings. A $ 5.00 donation is suggested to help fund the annual Independence Day Fireworks Over the Bay. See if you can detect the secret ingredients each restaurant uses to make their chowder unique. You get to be the judge! When you return the map/guide with your comments to the Visitors Center, you’ll receive a packet of discount coupons to be used at the participating restaurants. (Packets are available to the first 500 people who complete the tour.) Mid-February is also an ideal time to view the Gray Whale migration of the mothers with their newborn going from Baja, Mexico to their feeding grounds in Alaska. On Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4pm, January to mid-May, the Stewards of the Coast are at Bodega Head to help you spot the whales. Directions to the Ocean Overlook at Bodega Head across the bay are available at the Visitors Center. It’s also a perfect time to pick up Dungeness crab, fresh off Bodega Bay fishing boats. There are several places in Bodega Bay to purchase live or steamed crab. Information is available at the Visitors Center. Come to Bodega Bay on a cool winter’s day to enjoy great clam chowder and a fun time.Any questions please call the Sonoma Coast Visitors Center 707-875-3866 or email, visitorcenter@innatthetides.com Sonoma Coast Visitors Center, 850 Highway 1, Bodega Bay CA 94923 (707) 875-3866 |
